April Chidinma Obichie is a dynamic force in the entertainment and humanitarian sectors, celebrated for her versatility as an actor, filmmaker, model, and beauty queen. Born on September 21, 1999 and deeply connected to her Delta State roots in Nigeria, April has built an impressive career, starring in major films such as The Waiter, Merry Men 3, Last Factory, Night of June 7th, Can’t Touch Me,13 Letters and multiple of YouTube films like smitten by her love,dubious heart,the resourceful woman,an old friend,chasing closure,when luck shines,cutting ties,your husband is mine & lots more.Her artistic journey is matched by an academic foundation that includes a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, along with certifications in aviation and cybersecurity. In 2023, she further honed her craft through an intensive acting masterclass with AFRIFF.
As the CEO of April Studios where she produces,direct and rent out film equipments,PREYE her film Which got multiple nominations at the Toronto international Nollywood film festivals Expanding her impact behind the camera, April made her directorial debut with PREYE, a powerful short film aimed at creating awareness about female genital mutilation (FGM). As the film’s creator, producer, and director, she uses storytelling to shed light on critical social issues, proving her commitment to advocacy through art.she aims to bring African stories to the global stage.
A former beauty queen, April has graced the pageant world with prestigious titles, including Face of Unity 2015,and Miss Nwada Anioma 2012, and was a Top 15 finalist in the 2015 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria competition. Leveraging her experience in the limelight, she founded April Studios, a production company dedicated to amplifying authentic African narratives for a global audience.
Beyond entertainment, April’s passion for social impact shines through April Cares, a humanitarian initiative she launched to uplift underprivileged communities. Over the past three years, the program has provided school supplies, empowerment workshops, groceries, and healthcare support to over 200 children while also assisting widows and orphans with essential aid.
